The right partner makes all the difference.

A true partner is a coach, a collaborator, and a creative guide—someone who challenges your thinking, nudges you out of your comfort zone, and is genuinely invested in your success.

For 25 years, I’ve been helping businesses find what makes them genuinely extraordinary and build their marketing from that foundation up. I started at top national agencies working on big-name brands. The work looked impressive but was about persuasion, not connection. These days, I prefer to work with smaller, growth-minded companies that want to build something that actually matters to people.

I hold a master’s degree from the VCU Brandcenter, one of the country’s best advertising and brand strategy programs. I’ve taught creativity at Brainco, guest lectured at the University of Minnesota, and mentored young designers through AIGA. Outside of work, you’ll find me on a tennis court, playing guitar, or hanging out in a coffee shop with a friend.

My working style.

I listen for what’s not said. Most people listen to respond. I listen to understand. Because the most important truths are usually below the surface.

I’m a slow thinker. Depth and speed don’t go together. Real insight requires sitting with something for a little while before deciding.

I’ll tell you what I think. I’m the world’s worst liar. If something feels off, I’ll tell you. An awkward moment is waaay better than politely investing in the wrong thing.

I make the complex simple. I’m not big on 60-page strategy decks. I believe in keeping things short, sharp, and actually usable.

I lead with empathy, not algorithms. Metrics are helpful, but people act on emotion. Marketing is about connection, and connection comes from hacking humans, not algorithms.

What you see is what you get. With me, you won’t hear fancy consultant-speak or get a slick, performative persona. I’m not here to show you how much I know. I’m here to help you figure out what you need.

One person, one client, total focus.

I deliberately work with a small number of clients at a time. Because real depth requires real focus. When I take you on, you get my full attention. Not divided between twenty accounts or distracted by layers of process.

I believe every business has something genuinely extraordinary about it. I believe the most powerful thing a small and midsize business can do is stop trying to look like a big one. And I believe that when your marketing finally reflects who you really are, it doesn’t feel like work. It feels like freedom.

If you think I’m the kind of partner you’re looking for, I’d love to talk.

My past experience includes:

Smaller businesses are my people.

Early in my career, I thought working with big brands meant prestige. It meant my work met a high standard. It meant big budgets and high exposure. But over the years, I realized that bigger isn’t better. In fact, smaller businesses were the ones that really mattered to me.

I believe small and midsize businesses are essential. They’re the backbone of our economy and our communities. They care about relationships, not just transactions. They provide more than stuff—things like meaning, connection, community, and pride. They’re the businesses we actually need. And they’re the ones being threatened the most.

And so I choose to do everything I can to help small and midsize businesses thrive. Because I don’t just want them to. I need them to.
